Conference in November

January 12, 2012 6:30pm – 8pm

Conclusion:

Quarterly meetings will be held on the second Thursday of the above mentioned months. Time of the meeting may be changed from 6:30pm to 4:30pm. The goal of ABAI in Colorado is to leave with a key presenter for HABA conference in November.

Action items and person responsible:

-          Anne Lau will help put together a newsletter and poster for the ABAI conference.

Newsletter to include: Todd Addleson’s annual write up of the 2010 – 2011 year, a synopsis of Dr. Brandon Green’s presentation at the last HABA conference,  and an introduction of new officers.

Topic: Decide on what remote meeting program to use

Discussion:  Go to Meeting was discussed. The cost of using this remote meeting program would be $460/year or $50/month.  Skype was also an option, however with HABA members on three different islands, Skype would be difficult to use. It was also discussed to ask an agency if they would allow HABA to use their remote meeting program for this year.

Conclusion:

-          Since HABA at this time does not have a budget, it was concluded that HABA would seek the assistance from an agency to provide a remote meeting program to use.

Topic: Newsletter

Discussion: The newsletter will go out twice a year. Anne talked about her vision for the newsletter. Her vision included talking about policy information, 1st annual APBA conference, information and updates on licensure in this state, article reviews, and including work behavior analyst are doing around the island.

Conclusion: First newsletter will be done by ABAI conference.

Topic: Tasks to achieve

Discussion:  One of the most important tasks this year is the logistics of HABA. HABA will be cleaning up its books and get organized.

Conclusion:  In order to get organized there are many things that need to be done:

-          Collaboration between secretary and treasurer to get a current list of HABA members for the 2011 year. Get QuickBooks up and running between both secretary and treasurer to have both the budget and list of members backed up.

-          Meetings will always be held at 2800 Woodlawn Drive. Although the internet access was not available at this meeting, we will have the code for the internet to use at the next meeting.

-          Attorney is working on revising the HABA bi-laws to fit into a non-profit status. Once HABA becomes a non-profit board members will have to be elected and Roberts Rules of Order will go into effect.

Action items and persons responsible:

-          Yuri Hasegawa (former Treasurer) will switch HABA’s bank account over to Nancy Warren (current Treasurer).

Topic: Raising Money for HABA

Discussion:  Discussed different ways we would be able to boost HABA’s budget.  HABA’s membership fees have stayed the same for a number of years and as HABA grows in professionalism, the price of membership should be raised. Why should someone want membership with HABA? HABA will help them with their application to graduate school. Those who are BCBA’s may be interested in joining a professional organization. Having ad space on the HABA conference brochures will help HABA raise its budget for better conference location and speakers.  Companies can pay for booths at the HABA conference to showcase what they are currently working on or showcase successes.

Conclusion:

-          Annual dues will be raised from its current $10 a year to $25 a year and $15 a year for full time students starting January 2012.

-          Annual renewal dates will run the calendar year. January to December.

-          Advertising in brochures will need a minimum of 7 weeks to produce.

-          Current budget is $2461. Attorney costs will bring budget down to $1261.
