Topic: Local Conference

Discussion:  Kim Meyer suggested a conference format, and Theme for the conference.  With discussion the group approved.  The date of the conference is targeted for August 4, to accommodate anyone travel to International ABA in Sydney Australia (conference held 8/12 to 8/14/07).  Location for the local conference was discussed; we might be able to get the McKinley Adult school conference room at a fairly cheap rate if a state employee reserves the room.  Advertisement of the conference was discussed.  We need another presenter on the application of reinforcement, however we do not have any money to compensate a presenter.

Conclusions:  HABA Conference target date is August 4, 2007.  The theme is REINFROCEMENT.  The Format for the conference is as follows:

1st session – Primer on Reinforcement (Foundations and Principles) – Need a presenter

2nd session – Tiffany – Application of Reinforcement – Service providers and services animals

Lunch – ON your OWN

3rd session – Application of Reinforcement – need a presenter

4th session – Theoretical overview and panel discussion

Advertisement of the conference:

Jean Johnson – Center for Disabilities Studies – offered to advertise via her forum

Susanne Racco – SPIN  -would addres information about the conference in The SPIN newsletter

DDD providers and Case Managers should be targeted – Justin Kyrannis could get information out to DDD Providers.  There is a waiver provider organization that should be targeted.

DOE – Send information to Marilyn Jakeway to disseminate to DOE personnel

Autism Society of Hawaii – get information to Naomi Grossman
Tri-Care Managers – Joyce Uyehara – would be a good contact person

Topic: Newsletter

Discussion: July 2007 – target date for first newsletter.

Conclusions: The newsletter is a vehicle in which HABA can inform the community of our mission as well as increase membership, and promote the conference. The newsletter can be e-mailed or mailed to specific people at various organizations and they could be asked to distribute them to people who would be interested.  The newsletter should be available via the Web site.  The newsletter needs to have a calendar of events and means to reach out to interested parties on all the islands.
