Jessie Mitchell, M.A., BCBA & Jana Ortiz, Ph.D (HABA 2008 Conference)

Title of Talk: How Effective Teamwork Makes an ABA Intervention Plan Work in a School Setting

Jana Ortiz, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist in Hawaii. She received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Kansas. Jana has provided a range of services, including individual, family, group and consultative services, in a variety of settings. She has provided clinical services to individuals in outpatient clinics, inpatient settings, prisons/youth correctional facilities, day treatment programs, homes and educational settings. Jana currently works for BCRC, provides supervision and training to graduate students and direct services to individuals/families in her private practice.

Jessie Mitchell, MA, BCBA, is the current secretary of HABA and has worked with individuals with challenging behaviors since 1985 in Oregon, North Carolina and Hawai’i. Jessie has been a Board Certified Behavior Analyst since 2003 and is a Behavior Analyst for BCRC in Hawai’i and provides contracted services in public schools.

 

Jose Rios, BCBA (HABA 2008 Conference)

Title of Talk: Strengthening The Link Between Functional Assessment & Behavioral Intervention Plans

Jose D. Rios, MS, BCBA With over 35 years of direct experience with children and adults with problem behaviors and with developmental disabilities, Jose D Rios was among the first Board Certified Behavior Analysts in the State of California. He served as the first Hispanic president of CalABA, the professional association of behavior analysts in California. Jose recently became a member of the board of directors of a new professional organization, the Association of Applied Behavior Analysts. Jose has worked as an adjunct instructor at California State University-Los Angeles, was owner/licensee of several Level 4 residential facilities for over 15 years and is often asked to provide lectures, presentations, workshops and inservices on a variety of topics pertaining to behavior analysis, and in particular, to services for persons with developmental disabilities as well as non-disabled children and adolescents with problem behaviors. To date, Jose has presented to, taught and consulted with thousands of individuals.

 

Donald Wachelka, M.A., BCBA

Title of Talk: Supplementing Token Economies with a Time-In Procedure (Data Presentation). Presenter will discuss efficient and effective ways to accelerate student's performance in the classroom.

Founder, CEO & Executive Director of Quality Behavioral Outcomes is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst who has been providing Behavioral and Educational Consultation services to Hawaii since 1998 primarily on the island of Maui. His primary interests include "performance improvement", "frustration management" and "social development" for children with varying exceptionalities. QBO currently provides services to 500+ children/adolescents who have mild-to-severe communicative, behavioral and social delays in Northern California (SF. Bay Area) and Hawaii.
